Rafael A. Carvajal - Values & Ethics

Values, Ethics, Teachings

Losing his father at the tender age of 12 years old taught him to persevere in life and conquer major challenges.  He grew up the eldest of 3 boys with a single mom.

His high school education by priests from the Order of Saint Francis taught him the value of discipline, hard work and respect for his fellow human beings.

Military training at the United States Coast Guard Academy taught him to lead by example and to manage people.  He also learned that a leader can only succeed if he has the ability to motivate his people and hold them accountable for their performance.

His Harvard Business School professors taught him some of the best general management and financial management skills in the world.  A dream come true for a young man who emigrated from Costa Rica.

A Passion for Life

Hiking the Grand Canyon challenged him to test his endurance.

Sailing for 6 months from Australia to the U.S. on the Coast Guard Barque Eagle showed him parts of the world a Costa Rican boy once dreamed of while watching the sun set in the Pacific Ocean.

Deep sea fishing reinforces the importance of patience and determination.

Playing tennis allows him to exercise and share time with friends.
